EVOLU’SOLS is a company specialised in earth moving and work in aquatic environments. Their team also works on sites found in protected areas.
For this case study, our mission consisted in:
- identifying the contamination sources
- taking samples and analysing the oil
- replacing the current oil with a high performance biodegradable oil
IDENTIFICATION OF PROBLEMS
They work in protected environments. One recent example is the work carried out close to the Audomarois marshes. Their excavators could easily pollute the marsh water and land. As a result, they were obliged to replace the current oils used in their equipment and machines with high performance biodegradable oils.
The teams spent time searching on Internet to find local companies able to respond to the environmental issues and the performance and efficiency requirements.
The company AMO Technologies, an ID System Fluid partner for the past 6 years, was selected to perform this migration. A joint intervention was established.
EQUIPMENT TO CONVERT:
1 KUBOTA KX 080-4 crawler excavator, 8 tons
7 tools operating with the excavator
WHAT WE CONCLUDED:
The pollution caused by the current oils used for the crawler excavator and tools was perfectly clear. The risk of contaminating the marsh waters was too high.
The hydraulic systems were contaminated by foreign particles. The equipment risked breaking down at any time and consequently, their performances were reduced. The recurrent downtime of the excavator and tools represented a non-negligible loss.
THE ID SYSTEM FLUID SOLUTION
OUR PROPOSAL WAS:
1 – Analyse the degree of oil pollution by taking samples.
2 – Clean the excavator’s hydraulic systems with a depollution unit.
3 – Convert the current oils to PANOLIN biodegradable oils guaranteed for the service life of the machine (15,000 hours minimum).
4 – Install a Cardev micro filtration system with bypass operation (and β>2,000). The aim was to achieve a higher availability rate for the excavator. The service life of PANOLIN bio oils is extended.
The AMO teams and Leslie (our ID System Fluid employee) worked to:
- take samples and perform the analysis
- drain, rinse and clean the KUBOTA 8-ton crawler excavator and the 7 tools which are used with the excavator, over 2 days.
They installed a Cardev unit to maintain the level of cleanliness of the fluid. We recommended that EVOLU’SOLS replace their current filters with HY-PRO high performance filters to maximise the filtration of their excavator.
The EVOLU’SOLS teams can now work without polluting the marshes. Furthermore, the service life and performance of the excavator has increased and the risk of breakdown drastically reduced.
